How the 2026-27 Season Is Structured
The season runs across three blocks, not a single flat rate:
- **Lean Season — September 2026:** the season's opening month, five Wednesday departures
- **Peak Season — October 2026 to March 2027:** the core of the operating season, running weekly for six full months
- **Lean Season — April 2027:** the season's closing month, four Wednesday departures
Peak season covers by far the majority of departures, but the two Lean season windows — September and April — offer a genuinely lower ticket price for travelers whose schedule can flex around them.

The December Surcharge
Two departures inside the Peak season carry an additional surcharge on top of the standard Peak rate: the 23 December and 30 December 2026 departures, which fall over the Christmas and New Year period. A 10% surcharge applies to these two specific dates only — every other Peak season departure is priced at the standard Peak rate shown above.
Why the Same Cabin Costs More in December Than in September
The ticket price difference between a September departure and a December departure for the identical Deluxe cabin comes down to demand, not the product changing. Weather, school holiday timing in key source markets, and the Rajasthan festival calendar all concentrate demand into the October–March window, and the December dates specifically see the additional holiday surcharge on top. The cabin, the itinerary, and the inclusions are identical regardless of which week you book — only the rate moves.
Timing Your Booking Around the Ticket Price
If minimizing the ticket price is your priority, a September or April departure is the most direct lever available — the Double Occupancy Deluxe rate alone is roughly 11% lower in Lean season than Peak, and that gap holds proportionally across every cabin class. The trade-off is fewer date choices: five Wednesdays in September, four in April, versus roughly twenty-six weekly departures across the full Peak season.
If a Peak season departure is non-negotiable for your travel dates, the two dates to specifically avoid if budget is the priority are 23 and 30 December — every other Peak Wednesday is priced identically.
