Journey Aboard Palace on Wheels

Palace on Wheels is India's most celebrated luxury train, jointly operated by Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation (RTDC) and Indian Railways since 1982. The train runs a weekly circuit departing from Delhi every Wednesday, covering 8 iconic destinations across Rajasthan and Agra over 7 nights and 8 days.

The train offers three cabin categories: Deluxe, Super Deluxe (Suite), and Presidential Suite. Fares are quoted per person per journey in USD and vary by season (peak season Oct–Mar vs. off-season Apr–Sep). Please contact us for the current 2026/2027 tariff — prices are subject to RTDC revision and we always provide the latest official rates.

The train operates seasonally, typically from September/October through March/April. Departures are every Wednesday from Safdarjung Railway Station, New Delhi. We handle international bookings directly. Simply fill out our enquiry form or WhatsApp us, specifying your preferred departure date, number of passengers, nationality, and cabin preference. We will confirm availability, issue a booking hold, and guide you through payment — typically via bank transfer or international card. No need to book through IRCTC or visit India to reserve your seat.

The fare includes all accommodation aboard the train, all meals (breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner), guided excursions at each destination with certified English-speaking guides, entry fees to major monuments, and onboard entertainment. International flights, visa fees, optional Ranthambore safari park fees, and personal expenses are not included.

Absolutely. The train has a strong safety record and is frequently chosen by solo travelers — particularly women traveling alone — and senior guests. The staff-to-guest ratio is high, the onboard doctor is available, and all excursions are fully guided. Most guests aged 65–80 complete the journey comfortably.

Palace on Wheels is India's original and most historically significant luxury train. Royal Rajasthan on Wheels covers a similar route with some differences in timing and destinations. Yes. The train stops at Sawai Madhopur, the gateway to Ranthambore National Park. A safari excursion is included — the park is home to one of India's densest tiger populations and the dramatic Ranthambore Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Safari slots are limited and must be pre-allocated, so early booking is strongly advised.
